The Very Important Kid Program

The Very Important Kid Program (VIK) is a self-esteem program developed for children between the ages of three to six. The VIK program goals are to enhance the development of positive self-esteem and to give children tools to explore their feelings. Teachers receive handbooks on helping with common issues young children face and promoting a healthy attitude towards life. In the curriculum, each child has a very own special day when he/she wears a special VIK t-shirt, and is the featured special person of the day.

The VIK program currently helps to support the development of self-esteem of more than 800 children in 52 Geauga County preschool and kindergarten classrooms. VIK offers teachers a variety of activities and lesson plans to reinforce the message that each child is special and unique. VIK is free to all Geauga County preschools and daycare through funding from the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services. The VIK program is also available to preschools (and Day Care centers) in other counties. If your center is not involved, encourage them to contact us.

Please contact The Mental Health Association in Geauga County for VIK information at (440)285-3945.

VIKII is available to preschools and kindergartens outside Geauga County. The VIK curriculum and materials are available at a minimal cost. If your center is not involved, encourage them to contact the Mental Health Association in Geauga County for VIK information at (440)285-3945.
